my name is Ashley Fiolek, I'm 17 years old, I am profoundly deaf and I race motocross. I have been riding and racing since I was 7 years old, and it is what I love to do...
In 2004 I decided to implement new standards for myself and this is when I really started to work and train hard to achieve my goals. That year I won Loretta Lynn’s, the nation’s most prestigious amateur national, in the girl’s 9-13 class on my 85cc Honda. I went undefeated for the week winning all three of my moto’s. Winning Loretta’s is simply amazing and it has given me confidence, desire, and vision. I use these attributes daily, as I work to bring my goals closer to reality. I want to become the fastest women motocross racer in the history of the sport! Following my first national championship title win in 2004, I decided that racing motocross is the path that will define my life, further develop my character, and build lasting relationships that only a sport of this nature can. I have added 12 more amateur national championships to my resume since winning my first title in 2004. In November of 2006, I made my Big Bike debut at the Mini O’s. I was up against the best women in the world and I was able to win the Women’s Supercross Title and place second overall in the Women’s Motocross Division. This set the stage for my entrance iinto the WMA as Women's Professional. I made my WMA Women's Pro debut at Steel City and finsihed 5th after battling super muddy conditions on my 125cc 2 stroke. Mud was the task at hand again at the WMA cup in November and I finished 6th in my final race event of the 2007 calendar.
I'm now aboard a Honda 250f 4 stroke and I feel very comfortable on the bike. My first Women's Pro race of 2008 will be at the Vurbmoto.com GNC International on March 19th.
Racing allows me to travel all over the USA and this is a wonderful experience for me. I believe that you can learn a lot from traveling and I have friends and extended family from coast to coast. I have also traveled over to Japan twice to race with girls from all over the world! I try to think as broad as possible and I feel strongly that I’m living my dream and experiencing a gifted life in doing so.
